Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.

Yes I do because no one wants to hear it because they want to remain dead in their sins.
These days people would rather sin as in the days of Noah than hear the word of God and turn from their wicked ways.

I wear a cross around my neck and you wouldn't believe how many filthy looks I get every time I go out by total complete strangers who first see my cross then look at me with hatred.

But I live very close to San Francisco the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah and the people around here idolize sin and absolutely despise anything which stands for God.

I don't think there's a lack of the word of God because the word is always alive and strong but I do believe there's a lack of people who are willing to listen to it.

Yes I do and it reminds me of a long time ago.......a woman got up in church and read this writing called "the Harness of the Lord".......by Bob Mumford.......I think I will find it and post it but it's a prophecy that has come true.

I can't find it.....was a vision he had about horses and some were doing whatever the master told them and being trained......and the rest of the horses in the vision were jumping the fence and going off to play........(represented Christians, all the horses) the ones who took the training from the Lord would be taken care and sheltered in his barn and the rest would experience famine when the water dried up and so on........it was very good wish I could find it online. I remember it was based on this scripture you just gave us.

I don't think so, because the next verse does not describe today:

12 Men will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the LORD,
but they will not find it.

I think this will come after the Bible and God are pushed away from society to the point that many "Christians" will be following their own personal forms of Christianity and teaching the same but without the Word as their foundation.

There are so many wars going on, that we are not hearing the Lord Gods words. That is the famine of His words. The Lord does not want us to war, he wants us to accept what we don't understand and love one another anyway.

In a way, yes.
But it depends on how you look at it. There are many people in the world today. I wonder if the percentage of people who hear the word verses those who refuse is the same as it was 50 years ago, 100, 200 etc. I imagine the percentage is less...
so yes, we are living in the last days.

I think it may be forthcoming. Perhaps sooner than we wish to believe. Too many things happening too fast right now. I have been reading the left behind series and watched the dvd by Tim Lahaye. Really got me to thinking about the holucost. Folks should read it then read the book of revelations. Christianity is under attack everywhere you look today

No. Actually, the Word of God needs to be preached & published in all lands, then the end shall be. I believe this famine of the Word of God is after the rapture.

But today, there are examples happening in some places, so in that respect, is being fulfilled today.

Possibly, in that most people nowadays have the opportunity to hear God's word but choose to ignore it.

It doesn't take a prophet to be able to predict that Man will eventually figure out the Truth about religions.

Absolutely. And I think the 5th seal has been opened, which means that if you're not sealed by God, you'll be decieved by antichrist. 6th seal, 6th trump, 6th vial are fast approching.
