Does he have a salt/mineral block that he can chew on? He needs something to wear down his teeth...that's why he's chewing.

A couple of people have already pinpointed the problem you are having. In the wild hamsters do most of their living at night in an attempt not to be prey so readily. It doesn't just go away because you have him in a cage in your house. Hamsters front teeth grow ALL the time and if they don't wear them down with really tough food then they will chew on anything they can find that is tough enough to handle the job. Don't put him in a glass cage it will stink to high heaven and it is too freaky for the little guys. Go to a really good pet store and find their books on hamsters and look at all the stuff they have and get your little critter what it really needs to stay healthy and happy. If the noise is too much follow the advice already given and move it to another room away from the bedrooms. People tend to put these little guys in a little cage just cause they thing that is all they need. If you had to live in a room five by five feet how would you feel? So if you really care about the little cutie then get him some running tubes and maybe even a running ball to play around in the early evening before everyone goes to bed. But don't leave him in it unattended or for more than an hour or so. Put yourself in his little booties and think about all you do everyday...just cause he can't talk to you doesn't mean he doesn't want a life.

Hamsters are nocturnal, so he will be most active at night time. Also, he's probably bored out of his mind. I had a hamster who did the same thing. We put in a few treats and a few hamster toys and she was fine after that. Buy some treats and things for him to chew on. If he still continues to chew his bars, (but bear in mind it may take a while for him to start playing with his toys), talk to your vet and see if they can help.

As a rodent, hamsters will chew and chew and chew some more. It is because their teeth never stop growing. There are many "chew toys" for hamsters available at a pet store. A simple and cheap chew toy is the cardboard roll inside toilet pape or paper towels.

Hamsters are night owls so to speak, so they are most active at night, he or she could be trying to sharpen it's teeth, trying to escape, or just bored out of its gord and has nothing better to do than to keep you awake all night. My son had a hamster in his room....now he has 2 cockatials...anyway....give it something to do...toys, tunnels, running wheels ect......also you could go with a different style cage, hard plastic or glass. Other than that the only thing left to do is move it to another room in the house where nobody is trying to sleep...its just a hamsters nature, party all night and sleep all day. Funny story...my sons hamster actually did manage to escape a couple times and it climbed up in bed with my son while he was sleeping...talk about scaring the bejesus out of him....he screamed like a girl the first time lol.

Hamsters teeth are constantly growing, so they are constantly chewing. Also, studies have proven animals find the chemicals that are added to metal during the cooking process tasty. You should look to a glass or plastic cage.

in the beginning make beneficial she will't get away, mine used to flee out the doorways so i've got been given bulldog clips and clipped the doorways close and that worked nicely. Hamsters continuously chew the bars, yet they like chewing different issues too, mine used to love those chew stick issues, they are hung from the roof of the cage and that's a pair of four inch long stick of wood it relatively is been lined in a thick layer of nuts and seeds, they are somewhat tricky so the hamster gets to chew lots to devour the seeds. they are extraordinarily low priced. there is likewise an entire selection of stuff on the puppy shop stated as 'boredom breakers' it relatively is stuff to put in the cage to maintain the hamster happy. basically be sure you in basic terms supply her perfect assets you obtain interior the puppy shop, in case you supply her in basic terms a random little bit of wood you got here across, it would desire to harm her mouth or have stuff on it which will make her ill.

Hamsters chew because their teeth grow as long as they live. That is why rodents gnaw so much. Keeps the teeth sharp. Get him a piece of hardwood like oak or maple to chew on. You can probably get a scrap from a home center like Home Depot or Lowe's from their cutting floor.

Because he's trying to get out. Hamsters are irritating at night -- I know. Sometimes having an animal isn't all joy. Maybe put the cage somewhere where no one can hear him at night.

He wants to get out, or his teeth are bothering him! Before you go to bed you should give him those little treat bar things that you can get at any petstore or you could give him a carrot or those flavored blocks of wood. So that will keep him occupied when you want to go to sleep. I hate that sound! It's so annoying! But hamsters are adorableee =)
