Seems like the entire right side of my left big toenail (hope that's not confusing) doesn't want to grow forward anymore, but DOWNWARD

Name for that is...?

Ugh, guess it's time to see a podiatrist (for the first time ever)

Your best bet would be to talk to a Doctor about it. Also try soaking your foot in WARM WATER with EPSOM SALTS ,not sure if that is right spelling. GOOD LUCK

If it's not a shoe irritating that toe, I'd visit your normal physician or a Podiatrist. Have you ever tried wearing inserts in your shoes? That might help, while you wait for it to heal, or get an appointment with that specialist. Meanwhile, try wearing sandals or going bear foot.

Sounds like an ingrown toe nail to me also. I had that on my feet, it was very painful. I tried looser shoes, sandals and soaking, but none of it worked. I wound up going to the podiatrist and I had to have both my big toenails totally removed! ouch that was painful, now it isn't pretty but at least it doesn't hurt me anymore. good luck with your toes. =}
