To start with - I agree with your statement regarding the Veterans. Yes we should thank them for their service and show respect.
However this is an international forum. You didn't state the country in which you live. I assume you are American. Why do you feel you need to state 'WE LIVE IN THE BEST NATION ON THE PLANET!!!' Is there a BEST NATION ON THE PLANET ? Many people in this forum would not hesitate to disagree with the fact that America isn't the BEST NATION you proclaim it to be.

Actually, I am known to walk up and thank vets all year. Although I have not served in the military, my dad was a carreer Marine. WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. Yesterday was the Marine Corps birthday. I have already been to a Vterans day gathering this morning and will be at a cemetary a t sundown for taps.
So to answer the question add 1 to the total.

My wife and I are both Vets. My daughter will be coming home from Iraq in two weeks. We are all proud that we served our country. I was in Vietnam and was treated like crap, I hope that it doesn't happen to our Iraq vets.
