...to claim to others that they are on a personal mission, dipatched by the creator of the universe? Furthermore, when will rational people call these people on it- pride and arrogance masquerading as humility?

the idea that you will pick and choose which parts of what you claim to be the word of god is more arrogant still

...Oregon-not christian bashing; believers in allah, poseidon, and baal get no pass from rationality either; instead of accusing me of bashing, why not point out where my reasoning is incorrect?

we have been for thousands of years. the christians whine to the powers that be in govt. that they are being abused for no reaons, yet they interfere in every thing from politics to screwing in the bedroom. is it any wonder why some are killed by people? christians have this self-absorbed notion that we have to respect their beliefs. BS! we do not. we respect their right to worship in this country, there is no bill of rights exclusive for christians or any other religious group that extends beyond the freedom to worship. This does not give them the right to campaign to force their way into our bedrooms and reproduction clinics. christians are fundamentally flawed in consceince and morals.

My goodness, dear one. You're doing some Christian bashing today, aren't you!
There is absolutely no arrogance whatsoever in Christians who are called by God to reach the lost. As a matter of fact, we do it out of love and commitment.
I'm sorry that you have such an ill conceived idea of Christians and Christianity. May the Lord open your eyes to reality and God bless!

be nice I'm a christian and i cant stand the bible thumpers either,,,,,are you only talking about the righteous Christians, because i know righteous everybody,,,and to much pride in anyone is annoying, i personally find people that are humble are much more genuine and nice to be around,,,i think some people are just born that way and nice looking people tend to have more and people that have to much charisma and get to many compliments maybe get it from that,,,,pride does cover a multiple of sins

Don't hold it against them. They were indoctrinated so thoroughly that common sense and reason has taken a permanent vacation.

Arrogance is a personality disorder. Craziness is trying to figure out why the arrogant are arrogant.

I laugh at those citing biblical text to prove that they are correct. How can you be so sure that you are correct about the nature of the universe and God when so many others think that THEIR interpretation is correct? Religion is silly and illogical; there's no proof that a God does or does not exist. Quoting Biblical text isn't proof; it only makes you look less intelligent.

Well don't worry about the arrogance you think you see. people on a truly divine mission will take so many beatings and stripes and persecution over it......they have no chance to be prideful believe me. And this would be the people truly on a divine mission. 2 Corn 6:
Paul's Hardships
3We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 8through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

Good question.......I don't know why some people seem to think that they are the answer to all of life's questions and that THEY will enlighten all humanity.

God has a mission for everyone. It's hard to grasp just how small we are in the perspective of the whole universe, but God can see each of us down here and he's got a purpose for everyone. It isn't arrogance. It's faith.
