the problem with 'organized religion' is in the name. It says it all. Religion. Most are based on Christianity. They need to realize Christianity is a belief and not meant to be an organized religion. They make up their own rules(man-made), the has nothing to do with the words or commandments in the Bible, and expect people to go by the rules as if it were the written word. This is where Religion forgets about God, and its more about the people and the rules.
They tend to put God in a pretty little box and be consumed with themselves. If people could grasp the concept that Christianity is a belief and not a religion they could get back to the real matter at hand=)

The ignorance & superstition are still here in force.
What I see happening today is growing popularity of organized religions with a more "enlightened" point of view regarding personal freedom and responsibility and diminishing popularity of authoritarian religions.
Of course, this is growing very slowly, as all changes to organized religious always have been and will be.
Along with this, I see the authoritarian religions are reacting by trying to frighten people into conformity and away from these new enlightened ways. This is a power trip that is more related to politics than religious ideology.
There will always be "organization" in religous movements as it makes teaching possible. To my view it is the authoritarianism that is idiotic.

it's not religion that has been come to be questionable over the years, it's people. people and only people are responsible for the actions and principles that they carry out both to their followers and society. unfortunately, the authority figures in organized religion have abused their power and trust of others. it's a very good thing that people are shedding light on their abuses. people should be cautious of putting their complete trust in authority figures. they should put it more so towards themselves and their faith.

Yes, they are desperate to keep their grip on a society that is becoming smarter and more educated. Why do you think they are running to third world countries and trying to spread the disease?

i think of it maintains to be as surely idiotic and irrelevant because it ever replaced into. We basically have television now. I additionally do no longer shrink this commentary to "prepared" faith. All non secular and "religious" ideals are basically lack of understanding and superstition.

Religion gives many people meaning in their lives. Thankfully, many of us realize that we don't need it to have a meaningful life.

no, because there is still so much that science cannot explain. like where did we all come from, and where did the first atom come from and the first quark? what set off the big bang? so many questions, but still no answers. so no, organized religion is not idiotic.
