I tried once and it took me 1011 licks. Some students at Purdue did an experiment and it's actually different for every person because of amount of saliva, tongue size etc. etc.

That depends on a few things!
T= tongue length
S=time in seconds of lick
I=Diameter of inside
D=diameter of outside
H=hardness of shell
T x S - I + D + 1/2H = Licks needed.

i got to 962, then i gave up and started chewing on it :P

double sided: x0 = 496 licks
single sided: x0 = 248 licks
