Does anyone have a good recipe for sausage stuffing (can also include other stuff like apples or cranberries) that's not baked in the oven but cooked on the stove top? My oven is going to be filled with turkey and two kinds of casserole, and there won't be any room for stuffing. I don't want to make Stove-Top brand stuffing, but want to make my own with breadcrumbs and sage sausage (and other yummy ingredients). The stuffing recipes that I've found online so far are all supposed to be baked in the oven, so I would love some other suggestions. Thanks for your help.

You can saute chopped onion, cellery and apple in olive oil over medium until onions are transluscent. Add crumbled susage and brown. Then add a stick of butter and melt. (Its Thanksgiving...I don't want to hear it! hehe) After the butter melts add crumblecornbread or cornbread muffins. Splash in some chicken stock to moisten up the mixture to your liking. Serve hot!

FYI: You can definately add salt, pepper and even some sage if you like. Keep in mind that your country style sausage already has these three things in it so don't go overboard!
