So do you care about what said to a loved one before they die? After all they are dying so why should it matter?

Tourist of the mind,
A RN told me of this incident that happened a few weeks ago.

She told a cna that a pt was dying and that his family put him down as a Category III (that means no measure will be taken). She instructed the cna to just provide comfort to him. As part of the cna's duties she has to take a pt's vital signs. Well the cna went to the RN and told her that the pt had no vs, and when she tried to feel a pulse she couldn't. The RN went into the room and said Mr.X. He opened his eyes and said "WHAT?". Shocked she, decided to take his vitals herself. They both left the room. The RN came back later to see the pt with his eyes open. She asked the pt, "how are you doing mr. X". The pt responded with a "Fine, why are asking me?"

She said the pt lived for quite sometime after that and was very much alive.

This incident is not a means to convert. However wouldn't you hate to say something that you shouldn't have because you thought someone was dying and soon....

....to be dead.

I have seen countless times when people have been on the verge of death, CategoryIII and all. Everyone has lost hope including the family. Even doctors have mistakenly pronouced someone as being dead. Know one truly knows.

If the loved ones have been deaf since birth, I guess you can say whatever you want. I wonder if you do behind their back, so they can't read your lips.

Yes I believe it matters. Even if the person is in a coma it is important to whisper endearing words of comfort.

Hearing is directly linked to brain function, whether the ears could technically hear or not, when the brain stops functioning, nothing can be felt or heard.

no, i did not know this..that is wierd but also makes sense because when you are in a hospiatl bed dying they say the person can hear you and also makes sense in life because the last thing a person can hear is how much you love them..

It is usually pretty obvious, so yes. But I think what we say to or about them still matters. They feel our presence for one thing. second, God can/will reveal our message to them if they can't hear.

Yes... In my years in the ministry I was using this "FACT" to let people know that as long as they can hear... they can get saved!
