This may be a silly question, but I will ask anyway. Why do people put so much time and effort into seasoning turkey skin when most people do not eat the skin anyway - or do they. I don't.

The turkey skin is so thick that the flavor of the seasonings cannot seep through to the actual turkey meat. Maybe it is all about the aroma when cooking the turkey. Maybe it is about presentation.

What do you think and do people actually eat the skin?

The skin is my favorite part! The seasonings give the turkey a distinctive taste...for example, mesquite smoked flavor, or honey orange glaze...etc. YUM

I love crispy turkey skin. In general, you should season any meat outside and inside to get the best flavor out of the food. If you're not going to eat the skin, maybe you should peel it off before cooking? But your turkey may come out super dry.

Most Cooks season under the skin any seasoning on top would be for browning purposes.

People eat the skin, but it's terrible for you...it's all fat. I've tried eating it, but the texture is unsettling.

I think people season the turkey for skin eaters.

you season the skin beacuse.....the salt keeps the skin crisp, and will keep the meat juicy..oh hers a tip, when you roast a bird, chicken turkey whatever..half way through turn the bird 180 deg...so it is lying on the breasts and the underside is now on top

makes the meat amazingly tender and juicy....never have dry meat again ;)
