No you're not crazy, different things bring out that in different people- I'm right there with you; the rain and especially more stormy rain really brings it out in me too. but I've also learned you can do certain things to simulate that when it isn't in your particular condition (i.e. rain, for you and I). Just experiment around with things- you'll more than likely find there are at least a few other things that that do that for you as well.
and sorry but I don't know if there's any particular name for it or not, I don't think so...
Blessed be :).

Ooo yeah! I can feel the lightning sizzle up and down my body. Powerful! Or a gentle breeze when you need it the most. It can be the most delicious feeling in the world. Nature is magical. Everything is energy and I love feeling the energy life force in nature. I frame houses for a living. Some days I am just too tired to move. When I just about reach bottom on my energy level a perfect whole oak leaf will be laying in my path, even with no oak trees around. I put the leaf in my ponytail and I have more than enough energy to finish the day. Oak trees are energy for me. lol No, you're not crazy. You understand nature and all the energies that she is. We are all the same energy. Some of us have learned how to tap into that. Nature is respecting you back. That says much about you as a human being. She communes with those that will listen and she takes care of those that take care of her.

I relate to what you say re: thunderstorms. I have always loved them, the energy is so high and then such a release when the rain comes.
Reichian theory is that every task follows the orgasmic pattern, for wholeness. So we have a nurturing phase an energising phase ending in completion and then a relaxing phase. I find that experiencing a thunderstorm mirrors all these energies and is like doing the work for and with you. I can see why clarity because it is like clearing the air. if you are crazy so am I.

Crazy? Nope.
Why? Probably because of the energy in the storm, especially during a lightening storm. Doesn't seem to matter where we get our energy from; if we are open to energy, then a storm will bring a lot, making us seem to "buzz" with it - almost a system overload.
Occasionally, yes. But I learned a long time ago to let it pass through and into the ground. Unless I need it.

Thunderstorms especially carry alot of energy. Your senses will naturally be heightened as your body picks up electrical energy from your surroundings. Think about how the nervous system works using little electrical impulses. The electricity from mother nature acts like a huge battery charger...or maybe a signal booster if you'd prefer to look at it in that way.
It happens to everyone. Most people are not tuned into nature enough to notice it when it happens.
I don't know if you're crazy or not. But if you are...hey welcome to the club!.

It sounds like storms stimulate your psyche in some way, whether because of something in your past or because you are "hard wired" that way genetically.
I don't think it's crazy. We all have different responses to natural phenomenon. Some people love beaches. I love mountains. You feel spiritual during storms. To each his or her own.
Scott Cunningham (Wiccan author) says, BTW, that storms are in fact good times for working magick. I enjoy them, too, and find the freshness they bring to the land stimulating. I'm not sure if this is quite the same as what you're referring to.

I don't know if I'd describe it as a spiritual clarity, but I also feel a distinct affinity with rainstorms. Perhaps something in our natures and the natures of our particular gods?

It's probably something to do with resonances and harmonics. Perhaps your own spirituality responds more to this particular kind of atmospheric event - water resonating with water (after all, we're largely composed of water, perhaps your spirituality is attuned to that element). Others have said theirs raises in other climates or in response to other events - luminescence to (bio)luminescence etc. It happens to some people in particular seasons, or in particular places. It's just a way of tuning in to the universe in a clearer, sharper, and probably quicker way.
Blessings.

I'm not a witch but feel sad and depressed during rainy periods. But during thunder storms I am more awake and alert and feel great. Just love thunder storms!
