You will need 4 large, seal-able containers and 4 small bowls to place in them. In the first large container place your sample beside the bowl. Put some distilled water in the bowl and seal the container. Gradually the air in the container will go to 100% Relative Humidity and stay there.

Prepare the second container in the exact same way except dissolve a little salt in the water first. The humidity will stabilize a little below 100% RH.

Prepare the third container in the exact same way except use more salt in the water. The humidity will stabilize a little below the level in container 2.

Prepare the fourth container in the exact same way except use even more salt than in the others. The humidity will stabilize at a level lower than the others.

Hints:

1. Label each of the 4 containers BEFORE placing anything in them so you do not ruin your experiment by getting them mixed up.

2. Before starting, find a place to keep the containers where the temperature will remain nearly constant 24/7 for the duration of the experiment.

Good luck!
