The "standard" Bible is composed of 66 "books" or parts, and there is a division between Old Testament and New Testament.
The gospels begin the New Testament.
The old testament gives a great deal of information that leads up to the new testament.
One needs to understand what came before in order to understand what came later.

The Bible contains all of Jewish Scripture and is called the Old Testament that was promised to Abraham and given to Moses. Mainly it was blood sacrifice of a clean and pure lamb that represented salvation for sin, before a priest in the Old Testament. The New Testament is the Christian scripture that talks about Jesus Christ fulling the role of blood sacrifice for sin. This is why the gospels are in the back of the Bible.

Things are generally in chronological order in the Bible... but actually, the 4 Gospels are at the beginning of the New Testament, not at the back.

The Books before the Gospels are from long before Jesus came. Called the Torrie by the Jewish people. Called the Old Testament by Christians. So it is the history of the world before two thousand years ago. It happened first, then we got Jesus.

Because they were added later by Christians. The Hebrew Bible only has the Old Terstament. The one written in Hebrew is the most original and should be the basis of serious study. The rest are just attempts to translate it.
