I've been in a LDR for 4 years now. It take a lot of communication, trust and honesty. If you two can do that then you are off to a good start. If you dont' have on get webcams so that you can see each other online. Letters are good too because they are more personal. Care packages are good too, i like to collect things like my bf favorite snack and things like that. He lives in germany and i live in the U.S. so i know that it is hard. It take some creativity, but its worth it in the end. If you need specific idea you can email me and ask. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions :)

Long distance relationship....I live in California and he live in New York. We been writing emails and call each other once a week. It is not the same when you actually around each other. He's not here to comfort me when I'm feeling down, no one to hold me, and talking over the phone doesn't just cut it. It is really hard. After 10 months of doing this, we agree to be friend. I'm not saying that long distance relationship doesn't work but it is just too hard for me. Everybody is different while other can handle it while other can't. I want somebody who will be here physically.
Since you haven't seen him so often, you might not know what going on in his life except of what he want to tell you over the phone. Ask yourself if he's the kind of guy who would cheat on you? He might be telling a lie but you don't know since you are so far away. Do you trust him enough? It's tough but it is up to you to made that decision. There are other temptations. If you trust him enough and you both can handle it. Go for it and good luck.

I've been in one for seven months now - NY to Germany, and we've only been able to spend two weeks actually together (we'll be together again for a week and a half in January). So far, so good; he's planning on moving here next summer.

I think the most important thing in relationship is trust, without trust there is no relationship at all. You really have to trust him, try not to ask him any question that makes him feel uneasy.

They don't last very long. Hard to have a relationship with someone you never get to see.
