For a research project, in New York State is it legal for someone above 17 (the age of consent) to have consensual intercorse with someone below 17? How often are these cases taken to court? And do you believe that the sex laws for New York State are fair or unfair?

It is illegal, but hell I don't think it's reported too often unless it considered a rape case.

The age of consent is the age at which a person can legal have sex with another person, so no it is not legal for someone over the age of consent to have sex with someone under the age of consent...unless the minor is their spouse (which does happen....with parental consent).

How can it be legal, when one of the people is below the age of consent? The case should go to court.

its 18 and i think its about right. we dont need thirteen year olds ***** eachother all over.
