My goal is to lose 20 pounds. What is a good healthy goal for myself? How much should I aim to lose in a week? In a month? I have heard 2 pounds a week is healthy. Is this true?

Yes, 1-2 pounds is a healthy and obtainable goal. You might lose more some weeks and not as much on other weeks, but do not be discouraged because even a quarter pound weight loss is equivalent to a stick of butter! Watch your calorie intake and portion size and start moving! Walk, walk, walk...you might also want to add some resistance training. Check out the Weight Watchers website. They are full of useful information and recipe ideas.

sense your a guy it would be much easer for you to lose pounds then it would be for me...a girl. But yes i think that shooting for two pounds a week is a good goal. you should just try and eat lots of fruits, veggies, low fat dairy products, and stay away from carbs. They just make you want to eat more. What i also did to lose weight is eat a special K protein bar. It helps keep the hunger off. What most people try and do to lose weight for exercise is some sort of cardiovascular exercise for at least 20min a day. Its best in the morning because it helps oxygen circulate to your brain and makes you feel better, and have a better day over all. In about a month i think you might be able to loose about half of what your over all goal is. good luck!

10 pounds a months is accepted healthy. So 2 pounds a week looks ok. try not to eat more than you burn. Calculating the calories of the food you eat might help.
