I can say from experience that it is factually based..but yet still exaggerated.. True, we all don't wear designer clothes and don't all have new furniture. The important part of the show is the pride and camaraderie that does exist. There are always bad apples in life ie the cheating, the snobby judgmental people etc..
Oh..and my children do say yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am...not out of fear but out of respect to others and just good manners. They are now young adults and still speak that way...
I will add that I wasn't addicted to the show as some are..I watched some but there were many times it hit too close to home..(My hubby is on 3rd deployment) and was just to hard to watch...
All shows are exaggerated to get you to watch...

I love that show. Some things are based on the real life of an army wive.

Every base housing does not contain brand new furniture and the wives do not wear brand new designer clothing with shoes and handbags to match. Little children do not answer by saying yes sir or no sir. Still I enjoy watching the show and the fear depicted when a soldier leaves for war rings true.

I watched it just to laugh at it. There may be Army wives somewhere who live like that, but I've never met any of them!

I watched it while it was on, I found it interesting, I don't have a factual A to your Q, But it appears it would be pretty close to life in general, just in the setting of military environment.
Yet as we know some of all TV/Movies are dramatized.

It is true of a very very small percentage of real army wives... but for the most part, it hardly has a shred of accuracy.
