I think what you are asking is what features I would like on a cruise ship if it was set up perfectly for me.

First it would have to have a great promenade deck with easy access to be able to walk all the way around the ship and including access to the very front bow of the ship. I was just on a NCL ship where the promenade deck was had a walkway all the way around but it was cluttered with equipment and walls protruding out. It also lacked access to the bow as some Royal Caribbean ships I have been on.

Second, it would have to have a a great gymnasium of the front of the ship and facing forward rather than on one side. The RC's new Freedom, Independence, and Liberty of the Seas ships have the perfect gyms.

Third, a great and grand main dining room with huge picture windows looking out of the back of the ship.

Fourth, a buffet area that has food service islands rather than a cafeteria style service line.

Fifth, a terrace eating area so you can sit on the back of the ship outside and have breakfast and/or lunch outside.

Sixth, a walking, running AND roller blading track that goes around the ship on one of the top decks.

I was just on a ship that had a bowling alley and that was nice except that it should be free rather than $5 a game.

I love a ship with a multi-level atrium and lots of bright areas.

Some ships I have been on have a solarium where there is a pool and hot tubs in an area that is covered. So you do not have to go into a cool day or evening to use them.

A water slide would be nice and the Flowrider on the new RC ships are great. So is the ice skating rink.

It would also be great to have free internet service and a video games room with free videos, like the new Weii.

I suggest that you go to the cruise line web sites to look at what they offer for each ship. Royal Caribbean has a great site for looking at the features of its ships.

All cruise ships have shops and a casino, the latest have ice rinks, climbing walls, golf courses and golf simulators, pools with wave machines and water chutes, and video arcades.
The only thing I can think of that no-one has put on a cruise ship is a ski slope or toboggan run.

Have something going on on deck all the time. It does not have to be just music. I know when we went the stage outside was not used much.
I loved having the movie in the room when i wanted to watch Spider-man when it came out, i paid to watch it...
BUT think about putting a movie room in...so the family can get out of the room to go to the movies...it is a little crowded in there when everyone is in it. Grant it we got a small room so all we did was sleep there. So a movie room would be nice for the people that can not get the larger ones.

the royal promenade on the royal carribean and ships is good and all but make it longer and more shops but make better shops to like athletic shop music and movies kinda like a small shopping center with all type of stores
