I am sorry but a bar of soap will not help.
It is good to understand what how a leg cramp begins or the reason behind them.

The musles in the leg (as is true anywhere on the body) is fed a blood supply and the more you do the more blood required. That blood requirement should release but sometimes it does not and stays trapped around the muscles in your legs.

This causes leg cramps usually at night when one is completely relaxed. Heat is the worse thing one can do because heat causes expansion and in the case of leg cramps you dont want that.

The number 1 best thing to do for a cramp is pull out the ice and rub the area as your hopping around trying to get relief.
As a way to prevent these cramps at night--is to rub ice on the area you get the most cramps an hour before bedtime.

It is worth your while to check with your doctor to make sure you do not have restless leg syndrome (this can be treated with meds) or a vitamin or mineral deficiency.

Do not take calcium unless prescribed by your doctor. To much calcium can actually cause cramping and does more for bone than muscles.

However--making sure you get enough vitamin C through the foods you eat is a good thing.

Sounds like a superstition to me.
My mom said she found that rubbing a fairly strong magnet on the cramped area would "miraculously" stop the cramping.
