I had a Medical Collection and paid the original creditor, but they paid the Collection Agency. The payment according to my bank account, was made to the OC. They paid the CA with it, and now i have a "paid collection". What recourse do i have?

For starters, Spock doesn't know what he's talking about. It makes absolutely no difference who you paid (creditor or collection agency) the procedure in credit reporting is exactly the same.

Once they have placed it on your report, and once you pay it, all they are required to do is show "paid" on your credit report.

Note that paying off the debt in this way does nothing to help your credit report. You must get them to agree IN WRITING to delete the entry completely. Otherwise, what is the point in paying them?

My guess is the original creditor had/has a contract with the collection agency, so even if you paid the original creditor, the collection agency still had to be paid. Trust me, if some one pays my client directly, my client gets my bill for attorney's fees.

Sounds to me like your credit report is showing accurate information and that is all that is required.

If you didn't want it on your credit report at all, should have worked that out prior to payment.

Sorry, but I would say with the information provided that you have no recourse.

As long as someone marked your credit report as paid that is what they were supposed to do.
You let it go to collections before you paid it.
It is better to show as a paid account than an overdue account.
It is almost imposible to get this removed from your credit report.

unless you paid the OC before they sold the account to the CA, none.

you owed and hadn't paid and it went to collection. then you paid.

while that's better than "charge off" status ....
