The Bible says that woman came from man's ribs, yes. However, it's never ok for a man to beat his wife. God wants a woman to be obedient to her husband and allow him to be the "head" of the house. The husband that is respectful of his wife and shows love and care for her feelings is easier to follow and allow him to be the "head" of the house. When a husband is mean or degrading to his wife, it only causes resentment and hatred which is a sure fire way to divorce or a lifetime of unhappiness. Please don't let him beat you. You do not deserve to be beaten because you came from man's ribs. That is not what God meant. You do deserve to be in love, be happy, respected and cared about. Please realize this before it's to late.

He must have been a catholic, or some for of christian, it's from the book of genesis, where god creates Eve from one of Adam's ribs, but you most definately did not deserve to be beaten up, i hope you got the authorities involved.

Not to mention, the genesis story is a load of balony, and he'd know that, he was just using it as an excuse.

Ok, first of all leave a man who puts his hands on you immediately. That is unacceptable. Second of all, men wish we came from their ribs. Please, they probably came from our ribs if anyone came from a rib. Maybe the bible says it. But, I dont know I dont believe it. lol

The bible makes a euphemism like that, but it is obviously not literal. No. We are not actually made from a male rib.
