Youtube video of the French version of "Who wants to be a millionaire" where a contestant cannot answer this and has to ask the audience. Surprising response.

Watch what percentage of the audience thinks so, not just the contestant.

Do a little reading on "Sample Space."

What's the size of the audience? Maybe 200. Let's say half of them don't know the answer to this very ambiguous question.

(You do know it's ambiguous, right, and that you're not providing an accurate translation. You do speak French, don't you?)

Ok, so 100 out of 200 people were either confused by the question or really think the sun moves around the earth.

Can you conclude from this that half of France shares this "opinion"? Of course not, any more than, after witnessing a carjacking in Compton could you conclude that all African American men have really clean running shoes.

(bet you didn't see that one coming)

My point is that if anybody claims to be able to infer anything at all from this clip you need to run, quickly, in the opposite direction. This person is lying to you.

Obviously it was an ambiguous question. The question directly translates to mean "what rotates around the earth?", but could it have also been interpreted as "what rotates around the ground?"

Using the second interpretation, which is the correct answer? The sun does indeed circle the ground.

I'm not willing to believe that half the French population believe that the solar system is geocentric, there was obviously a problem understanding the question. I'm also willing to accept that the producers select the most stupid people for their studio audience, who had difficulty understanding the question.

i assumed that the sunlight revolves around France. haha i'm particular that maximum French ppl be attentive to that the earth revolves around the sunlight. lots of the babies in France study fairly annoying at college. in case you rather appreciate staring at stupid ppl, watch "Are you smarter than a 5th grader." I swear that they intentionally %. dumb adults and clever 5th graders. Even a number of the adults who're instructors be attentive to little or no.

What make you think that French are less smart than Americans. You can not stereotype one all French because of one French response.
