And all those years of watching Grandmother do holiday dinners don't count for much??
No I have never watched any of those. I always got sucked into the kitchen when growing up to assist with preparations!!
Now! My daughter hostesses the dinner!! She has farmed out the turk and ham dishes to others. She will make the stuffing and gravy. Someone will do the yams, someone else the mashed potatoes, etc.
Her daughter and I have discussed how many and what kind of desserts we want on the "groaning board"! All other guests have been advised to "bring your favorite side dish!"
This way alll the cooks in about 6 or 8 families don't have to slave away in the kitchen from 3 am!!
BTW: those cute plastic plates and cups go into the trash can, not the diish pan!!!

Not really. I hate this time of season for food programs and cooking magazines. It's all about holiday dinners. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays, but I know how to cook my own holiday dinners. But, when there's nothing else on TV, I always watch Food Network, so I'm stuck with a billion turkeys and 100s of ways to cook sweet potatoes. It gets old really fast.

I admit it - I get sucked in to watching a few of them every year! It's starting to be a holiday tradition for me, and they do give me some new ideas. My favorite though, is Alton Brown "Romancing the Turkey" and "Good Eats Turkey" (which I made last year, and it was the best turkey I think I've ever made!) He really shows you how to do a turkey!

No, but it wouldn't hurt me to watch them. I would like to add a new recipe this year. I will prob. search the net for a new recipe instead. :-)
