Maybe, your phone can use GSM 900. ONLY Advanced Info Systems (AIS) uses GSM 900 frequency. Your phone is gauged to use GSM 800 (US) and GSM 900(Int'l)
If you have your providers world wide service, you may be able to use it without getting a new sim card. Though calls might be a bit expensive. You will have to check with your provider and get the service. The short term cost of starting the service may not be worth it in comparison to buying a sim card there for 200 baht and using the AIS sim card for Thai local calls and then switch back to you US provider card when you need it.
You can get a AIS card for new service at most 7-11 stores or at a AIS provider shop, stall whatever. Can't miss them, their logo are the letters AIS in an oval. You might even be able to get one in the Suvarnabhumi airport
Good luck

Chances are it will not work. Unless I am mistaken the i560 uses IDen technology and in thailand they use GSM900 or GSM1800 technology. Although both uses SIM cards the technology is completely different and there is no way to use it in Thailand.
You will prob have little chances of unlocking it in Thailand as well as the phone is also not in thailand so the shops would not know what to do with it.
Your best bet is to buy / rent / borrow a GSM phone (tri-band or Quad-band if possible). When in thailand you would just have to purchase a pre-paid card from any 7/11 or phone shops and you are good to go.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Depends where you are from. Usually, there're some shops in Mabunkrong centre that can unlock you IMEI and allow you phone to be used in Thailand with Thai SIM Card. But, some of the phones from the US are not competible for Thai mobile networks.

Whitehawk is right. your phone will not work in Thailand. You need either an unlock quad-band phone or rent one when you reach Thailand. There is phone rental service at the airport.
