I have to say, the hungrier the kitty, the friendlier they are.
A young kitty will probably want to eat frequently. So put him on a feeding schedule for wet food.
BUT, here is the cudly part.... Hold the food in your hand maybe so that the cat has to be in your lap to eat it. You can pet him gently while he eats the wet food. At the same time you can be at his level by sitting on the floor with him. Shut the door and spend some quality time together.
Now I dont know if this is an only kitty or if you have other cats or children or how loud your home is. I would suggest that you and your kitty would have a better cuddle time alone in a quiet place without the phone ringing or loud TV commercials or any other loud distractions. Try that for a couple of times a day. Also, you can put (just a little)wet cat food or tuna juice on your hand and let the cat come to you. I might keep some cat nip in my pocket too....
I dont know if at 8 weeks old you could give him warm milk in a bottle.
And one more thing, Carry kitty to bed with you so that he knows where he is supposed to sleep... That is of course if you want your kitty to start the habit of sleeping in your bed like I have my 2 siamese do.
Good luck and I would love to know if all this works.

My little guy was the same way. His mom (who I also adopted) was a stray and some kind soul took her to the vet and paid for her board. She had her litter at the vet's, so the kittens were socialized to humans right off. However, Binky was always very wiggly and didn't like to be picked up and held. He's 10 now, and still doesn't like being picked up or kissed, but he loves getting onto laps! He loves being petted, but anything that feels like he's being restrained is anxiety-provoking.
Don't try to force your kitty - it's his personality and you're bonding with him in other ways. If you try to insist, you're more likely to make him bad-tempered.

Sounds like they are doing pretty well. It helps to turn them on there back when they are very small and showing them that you will not drop them, they can trust you. Cats are most exposed belly up and usually don't like it. I have done it with two of mine (the other one I got too old and she is more aggressive) 2 of them I found and bottle fed and raised.
I took to carrying the small kittens around "like a baby" as much as possible. Now they know I will not harm them, they are the most trusting cats in the world, even to strangers.
Don't be afraid to discipline and squirt them with a water bottle, just don't let them see its coming from you!
Good luck and enjoy!

Since he hasn't had much human contact before he doesn't know that being held and cuddled is a good thing. This will take time. I would recommend getting on the floor with him and letting him be on your lap through treats or toys, try to get him to stay there. Maybe he will fall asleep. Don't expect him to want to be held, he has never had that luxury before so he doesn't know how good it is!

is he a feral kitten? was he held as a kitty?
may need to work into it - let him come to you
then be gentle - don't aggravate him
command with your voice - never hit him
let the hand represent a calming presence
a rub or a head scratch

I had a cat who took 7 mos. to come & sit next to me. Some cats just take time. Eventually, he was sitting/lying all over me. Cats need lots of kindness & patience. They are not all automatically lap cats, but most come around & learn to trust you. Good luck.
