If we take the theory of evolution to be true, then the egg came first. The first chicken egg was in fact laid not by a chicken, but a sort of a primitive chicken, a species closely related and directly in line before the modern chicken.
If we take the Bible to be true then the chicken came first... because... God... created chicken... not eggs....
While this topic may easily derail to an argument between wheteher God exists or not,
I believe that the chicken sandwich came first.
A sandwich from a far off alternate dimension before time when earth was devoid of life but had the appropriate life support systems (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide).
Some alien species came to visit Earth and were eating a chicken sandwich, but due to the lack of mustard on the sammie (which the alien specifically told his wife to put on his sammie that morning!!!) and the lack of an available trash receptacle, the alien littered it into the sea, which thus began the process of evolution, where the bacteria from the chicken sandwich soon evolved into sub-species and ultimately the perfect being: the chicken itself!
If youre a theist, then we could say that you know, God might have been eating a chicken sammie on his break or something, where similar events may have occured.

The chicken came first. God created everything in this earth including us. After the chicken was made, then the chicken laid the egg. The Chicken came first.

The chicken would probably be looked at as being created by God, therefor the chicken came first then it laid an egg. Can't really see God putting eggs around the place as he hadn't invented Easter yet, besides, what would sit on them to make them hatch, der, they won't hatch by themselves you know, so logically the chicken MUST have come first.JB

The chicken came first. God may have a sense of humor, but He still wouldn't lay an egg, would He?

The first ever chicken also came from chicken only. The concept of egg came thereafter only.

The chicken came first . As God created all life in it true form. Adam and Eve came first. Before the baby was born, and so it is for all living creatures .
There must be something to help nurture it and help it learn the lesson in life . What they must eat or do to survive.

As we in our country believe that when God created Adam he also created all the trees and animals for him. Moreover, Think completely about it for a second, if it was the egg came first who is going to fertilize the egg.
I hope my answer was helpful.
