I saw the sign this morning, and for once I actually thought about what the heck it means. I always assumed it meant that was a hot spot for cops to catch you speeding. But then I thought 'hey they wouldn't broadcast that'

Yes they would advertise. The sign makes you slow down doesn't it?

A speed zone is a section of roadway with a regulated speed lower than the normal maximum speed for the rest of the road. Example: The normal speed for a country road may be 55 mph, a speed zone, where a school is located, may be 20 mph. Speed zones are set for safety because some folks just cannot slow down use good judgement on their own.

Speed zones are just a change of conditions with a lower speed limit. May be a town, school zone or other factor that requires a shorter stopping distance or speed. They DO broadcast it so you cannot contest the ticket.

"Speed Zone" is a movie from the 1980s starring the last John Candy, about a coast to coast automobile race. Its not quite as funny as "Cannonball Run", but still humorous.
