Take a hot shower or a hot bath. They should come off of you in a few minutes.

Use of 20 Mule team borax mixed with half table salt. Make a 50/50 mixture of borax (found in your local grocery stores laundry isle) and regular table salt. Place in jar with sprinkle type lid and sprinkle heavily on all carpeting. Use a stiff bristled broom to work the mixture down into fibers very well. You m,ay want to do the same for your furniture or mattresses. It is very safe to use around animals and children. The fleas will die immediately as they breathe through their sides and the dust from the borax suffocates them. The powder brushed deeply into your carpets will kill any eggs by drying them up so they never hatch. Wait a week to vacuum.Remember for every one flea you see there are 100 eggs she has laid. I also recommend the use of Frontline on all dogs or cats. If this is done properly your home will be flea free today! Good Luck!

I have 3 dogs and a ferret. What works for fleas is frontline plus for the dogs, duraband for your yard, and extra strength knockout for inside your house. If you use all three of these products that is all you will have to do.The extra strength knock out lasts for 7 months and has enough in the can to do a large house. You will still see a few fleas up to a couple weeks after treatment but after that they are gone

When you've done all the treatments prescribed above, you can "monitor" your success with a water trap - we have one going at the moment (plagued with cat fleas).
On our landing we have a low, small tablet lamp. Beside this is a bowl of water with a drop or two of washing up liquid (breaks the surface tension of the water). We leave it on all night; next morning, count the number of fleas who have drowned themselves - they hatch out and leap for the warm light, fall back into the water and die.
When we started we were catching up to 30 a night! Now down to 5. I vacuum every day and empty the cleaner into my bin - hasty spray with insecticide.
Never had an infestation like this before.

Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate. Get one of these from your vet.

Also get a proper housespray from your vet.

Don't use anything from a pet store; the things that are available in stores don't work and many are harmful. Also don't bother with garlic, salt - or Borax which is not supposed to be used around animals!
