I don't like any religion.
However, most people, in the US at least, are Christian. Therefore, if an atheist used to be religious, he was probably a Christian before. I used to be a Lutheran. Therefore, I know more about Christianity than other religions, though I'm continually learning about them.
Also, since Christians are in the majority here, they are the most vocal. Therefore, most of the atheist responses are to Christians. However, I will respond to other religious people as they speak up.

Speak to atheists from the Middle East (or who used to be from there, the ones that are still there might not be too willing to get stoned for admitting to atheism) and you'll see that they hate Islam more than Christianity.
Also you might want to note that Sam Harris has said that Islam right now is a lot more dangerous than Christianity.
Although the main reason is that most of the atheists here (and most of the ones you've known) happen to be in Western countries where Christianity is the dominant religion meaning that the ones who left religion that you've encountered probably left Christianity and not Islam meaning that they are more likely to be familiar with Christianity.
As well as that it is usually Christians that are trying to take away their rights.

Simple mathematics.Christianity is the largest religion in the world and it's contribution to the ranks of atheists is further facilitated by fanatics and aggressive Christians.Add to this is the spread of education and scientific temper amongst Christians more than in Islam.Nothing alarming but logical.

I'm an Atheist and I don't hate anyone or any religion, I respect your religion and your views no matter what. But when I tell people that I'm Atheist, I don't get the same amount of respect in return...and if people are believing so much in their Christian faith, shouldn't they accept me and not judge me?
I hate politicians who try to use their faith to make laws in this country. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? If it's against your religion to have an abortion, DON'T GET ONE. But don't tell non-believers that they can't do it because YOUR religion says it's wrong.
Plus, "Christians" like George W. Bush really make me angry...no Christian would illegally invade another country and kill thousands of people and believe what he was doing was right. Bush is NOT a Christian...he is a MONSTER.

It's not just atheists who hate christianity.
That tired, broken down philosophy should be put on a dusty shelf!
I don't recall ever hearing about muslims falsely accusing people of heresy & witchcraft so they could burn them alive & seize their assets.
Sending children to a far off land to fight the heretic, resulting in the deaths of all the children, who believed they were doing what was right is also something I've never heard of being done in the name of any other religion.
Ahhh, I could go on & on, but there are other Q's to look at....

I disagree with the tenets of both.
'hate' is too strong a word to generalize about, I have much love for many Christians and Muslims.
Though certain Muslims and Christians come to mind who make me want scream from the rooftops:
"You moronic, deliberately ignorant, polarized, hate-infested crushers of humanity???!! When are you going to stop killing and demonizing people who don't subscribe to your bullsheeeet!!? Just. Stop."

I have only once had a muslim ask me to convert and even that was in a very subtle and non obtrusive way. Furthermore, for those in the USA, muslims dont PAY LOBBYISTS to go to DC and legislate their various moral beliefs. This has oft times led to horrible results.
The Prohibition era, illegal unregulated prostitution, the drug trade in America and so on and so forth. Regulation NOT prohibition is the ONLY unctional way to approach these things.

Christians are more pertinent in the USA.
Most politicians pushing a religious agenda in the USA are Christians.

Islam isn't in our face. The only time it is in our face is when Christians are complaining about it.
