its just an excuse for themselves for them to be able to eat foods other than vegan once in a while... you know people are, they are ignorant and they sometimes believe what they want to believe, even though they know that it is wrong...

Hey!

I totally agree with kay_joey...
Maybe people just say flexitarian so they can have a break from not eating meat?
I've heard of vegetarians being flexitarian, but never of Vegans.
Do they occasionally eat dairy products or something, because aren't Vegans more extreme than vegetarians?

I am actually a vegetarian and personally I don't think it's fair that people can say 'oh I'm Flexiveggie' and be able to eat meat etc for a few weeks, I'm guessing its just pretty much because they can't handle being a full Vegan or Vegetarian?

There's no such thing as "flexitarian vegan." Someone who calls themselves a flexitarian is someone who eats vegetarian (or perhaps even vegan) most of the time, but who indulges in meat when it's considered desirable for some reason (like it's Thanksgiving and you don't want to tick off the relatives.) Calling yourself a flexitarian is fine, but it's a type of omnivore NOT a type of vegetarian. And it's very certainly not a type of vegan; veganism is pretty much an absolute. You can't be sort of vegan any more than you can be sort of pregnant.

Just a label for someone that can't make up their mind I cause they are vegan for awhile and get tired of that then go back to meat and dairy products. By the word Flex at least they are indicating they sway back and forth. That's more honest than those that say they are Vegetarian and they eat fish! They really should say semi-vegetarian!

Not a vegetarian. For the most part I could be though. Vegetarian not vegan. I like eggs and dairy way too much to give it up. On the other hand once in a while I may want a piece of salmon or steak. I don't think I should deny my self this. What ever works for you that's the diet you should stick to.

I can sort of understand the flexivegetarian thing, there's always been different degrees of vegetarianism, we just have a name for it now. But the who point of a Vegan diet is NO animal products at all, so that just doesn't work.

But essentially anyone that makes that claim is trying to be a vegan, but can't quite do it. So this gives them an out. Or they're pretending to be vegan because they think it makes them cool.

I'm a flexetarian vegan. I enjoy everything in moderation. I enjoy meat about 1/2 the time and I only wear leather on Mondays and Thursdays. The one thing I have in common with the standard vegan is I only help the animals when convenient.

"Flexatarian Vegan", as he is calling himself now is just a troll. In fact I think it is the troll that used to go by the name "Nasty Nuts", one, two and three. His last three accounts were suspended, and this is the new incarnation. The avatar is almost the same as the other one he had.

I guess he thinks that he is being clever or bothering people by saying he is flexatarian vegan. Personally as far as trolling goes that has already been done(and ignored) before.

It is good for a change, his others posts were annoying. These new ones just makes him sound uneducated and much easier for people to dismiss(who don't know he is a troll). Just block and move on, most trolls grow tired of being ignored after a few weeks and go away.

In the real world I have never run across anyone who uses these terms. They don't mean anything.
Some people just have a need to put a label on themselves to try to make them look unique or special. Others just want to come "play" with the vegan's and vegetarian's on here.
Either way it doesn't mean anything except possible boredom.

The only people who say they are "flexitarian vegans" are trolls on Yahoo Answers.
