sorry i forgot to say, i took her to the vet friday morning. all the vet said was that i could pay a coule hundred for test that might not say anything. i dont really want to spend that kind of money on a dog i have had for 3 days when i have a child and christmas comming up. she is still drinking plenty of water. she is starving. im thinking worms... would anyone know what kind it might be? my older dog has also started coughing like she might throw up.

I advise a vet visit as well. When we first brought our youngest pup home, he had a lot of trouble adjusting from the food he was eating there, to the food we use for our other dogs.

We also had one of our older ones do the same... we took him to the vet to find out that it was a viral infection. The vet gave us some meds & he was better within a few days.

Good luck!

One thing you should keep in mind is, if you were vomiting for 3 days, you'd be in the ER. That puppy is most likely dehydrated and should go in just for that reason alone. Alot of dogs that come from the shelter and pet store are prone to intestinal parasites that may be causing this problem. I don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of dealing with a dog with a gut worm, but it is not pleasant. Kinda looks like a pasta maker in the process of making spaghetti lol. Good luck. If the puppy is pooping that's good but the dehydration is your main concern.

I often ask people, " If this were a baby vomiting how long would you wait to take it to the doctor?"

Vomitting in a young pet can be life threatening. It could also be something as simple as worms - GO TO THE VET.

Do not try to treat this at home either - NEVER GIVE HUMAN MEDICATIONS TO A PET WITHOUT CONSULTING A VETERINARIAN - NEVER.

And disregard any answers from people saying feed bread or rice, or withhold food for 24 hours, or give this amount of Pepto-Bismo - they do not know what they are talking about and could harm your dog.

VET TODAY this pup should have either been taken back to the shelter for their vet to check ( if they have) or taken to your vet within a day of this happening.
I hope he hasn't dehydrated very badly.
Do not wait to make an appointment this is now an emergency so if neccesary it's a trip to the emergency vet

Have you taken her to a local vet. Dogs can get Parvo and Distemper, especially puppies and have to be vacinated.

Are you feeding your puppy the right type of dog food for its age?

It might just be nerves, but to be on the safe side..take your pet to be checked out or call the shelter and ask them questions.

I would think that you should take your dog to the vet asap. Just to make sure that she is not eating some think that she her body is not able to cope with. I am sure that this will amount to anything. Go and see what happens.

Good Luck

I would call the shelter, see if she has done this before. they might be willing to check her out. if not consult a vet. if she keeps vomiting she could get dehydrated. green in vomit means an infection.
