Follow me and consider this seriously - I'm not being facetious:

If "he" knew what would happen and that we would argue about the meaning of the bible, why didn't "he" just leave us a copy of the bible as intended on DVD so there wouldn't be any doubt as to what "he" meant. It would have saved us a lot of arguments.

Oops! I spelled it wrong - YHWH. Sorry - it's been a long time since I studied that aspect of it.

I don't think the question is cryptic at all, it's very straight forward. Why were we not left with a permanent and unalterable copy of YHWH's intent? I'm trying to get people to dust off their imaginations and stop rationalizing the irrational.

Stones break, scrolls mold and decay, entire books have been excised from the bible and passages deliberately misinterpreted. It just seems to me that if you're going to imperil people's eternal life in service to your own Jealousy, you should be absolutely clear in your message and an all-powerful deity could have done better. So - not all powerful? Can't see the future? Deliberately obtuse? Or some other reason?

If 'god' doesn't understand that a book written by man 2000 years ago (whether divinely inspired or not) isn't compatible with the modern age then he's a dingbat. The bible doesn't contain one relevant sentence for anyone living in the 21st century. If God existed he should have supplied a new up to date version of things by now - and yes it should be on DVD, but probably Blue-ray!

Well the first reason God may not have chosen to know. In the bible many times God pleads and hopes people repent and change their ways. So he does not pre-destine his intellegent creation, he of course can reason on our outcome based on our behaviors.

Since we in our time have a completed book , the bible, persons still find a way to argue to what its meaning is. God spoke directly and through angels to explain meanings of his laws, and regulations. Much of the bible was really written for our day.

I suppose if you try to consider this seriously, then it wouldn't have done any good to have all the answers on DVD, because even the bible, which is supposedly god's word, and is written down, is completely subject to interpretation.

A tape of "god" saying what god's will is would undoubtedly be subject to the same interpretation, no matter how clear "god was about what "he" meant.

I think that is is because He knows how the human mind works. Think about it. He wrote the 10 Commandments in stone, very simple and to the point. However, the people all had their own interpretations of each of those rules, didn't they?
If He came to Earth today and hit you on the head with a newspaper every time you did something that He disagreed with, that's not free will, is it?
In the new testament, Jesus asks what is the most important Commandment of all? The answer is "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as you love yourself" (I paraphrase)
ALL the rules of the Bible are based in this message.
The free will of man is what allows us to "interpret" His word based on our OWN rules.
Secondly, after Christ left the Earth, He sent us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. The first job of the Spirit is to teach. Through the Spirit, we are able to understand what God is saying through His word. If you truly seek the face of God and diligently search after His true word, you will find it.
The reason for this is that God is not a MAN. Nor is He a WOMAN. He is a Spirit. (Yes, I know we call God "He." This is because He is the Father in the purest sense of the role a father should play. The gender similarities stop there.)
The arguments all come from MAN wanting to reshape God into his own image, not the other way around. This has happened for CENTURIES, and is the basis of the anti-christian argument. The Crusades, the Holocaust, child molestation within the church, etc, are all arguments used to denounce God and His teachings. God never taught us to kill, to hurt, to slaughter, despite what people read in the old testament.
The Bible is NOT a book of rules. I don't care what argument you use. God does NOT like religion. In fact, he hates it. Just look at what Jesus said to the Pharisees (leaders of the Church during Roman occupation).
God wants to have a relationship with people. The Bible is an autobiography of who God is and always will be. It is intended to inspire people to be holy, loving and caring, not to follow any strict instructions on what to eat or wear or who can and can not lead, etc.
The Bible is and always will be the last word on who God is. When read in the Spirit, with the desire to know God and Love God and desire change in oneself, it will always win every argument.

I've heard one Pastor hypothesize that He did it this way to test us to see if we would obey his command to love one another or if we would get into debates about disputable matters to no profit.

1 Corinthians 11:19 For there must also be sects among you, in order that those who are approved may become recognized among you.

2 Timothy 2:23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

It doesn't matter what translation of the bible we read and study as those who really want to know him will find him and he is not far off from each one of us. --Acts 17:24-27. He puts his law into our hearts when we learn from scripture. The bible had been unchanged in that "the message is still there" for us to come to know His ways.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.

YHWH (no "v" in Hebrew, sorry), or Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, has blessed us all with the gift of our free will which has allowed each of us to submit to His Will or to refuse the same.
Free will has also allowed some persons to choose to twist and distort (i.e., corrupt) the revealed Word of God for their own purposes and intentions.
We will each be indiviudaly answerable for our deeds, whether good or bad, and for our intentions on the Day of Judgment.
Insha'Allah, Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, has always sent new "messengers" or Prophets to mankind as they were needed to call us back to faith and to our submission to His Will, which is Islam by the very definition of the word.
Further, Allah (swt) have also gifted us with intelligence and the ability to learn so as to acquire knowledge, to be able to discern what is correct and what is not, what is fact and what is fiction or a misinterpretation of the same.
Allah (swt) also guides those who sincerely seek Him and seek to do His Will and live as He has revealed we should live.

Insha'Allah, those whom you see fighting with one another are the lost leading the lost, the blind leading the blind, the power hungry manipulators who are trying to use the revelations of Allah (swt) for their own purposes which is often to acquire material gain in this lifetime, or political power and control over others and has literally nothing to do with religion and a desire to follow the straight path of Islam.

Insha'Allah, Allah (swt) or YHWH does not perform "magic" as a means of keeping us entertained (i.e., "Look! Nothing up my sleeve! Voila! Here's a recorded copy of my greatest hits on cd and dvd for only $19.95! Order today and you will also receive...")
In His Mercy and compassion for all of mankind, Allah (swt) has given us His revelations (first to the Jews through the many prophets (may Allah(swt) be pleased with them all) who were usally rejected and murdered, then to those who call themselves "Christians" by the revelations given to the Prophet Jesus (sallahu 'alaihi wasallaam) in the gospels though the same became distorted by unscrupulous persons after Rome assumed power over the practice of said faith and by the distortions added by the evangelist Saul also known as Paul, and then, finally, by sending the Last Prophet Muhammad (sallahu 'alaihi wasallaam) and the Holy Qur'an which, historicall,y, has been maintained from its delivery up until the present day without being corrupted, editted or distorted.
Mash'Allah, we have been given the "Word of God", we have been given right guidance, we have been set upon the straight path in our personal lived journey back to Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala. The problem seems to be that many persons refuse to follow what we have all been given.
Insha'Allah, the secret is in ones willingness to submit to the Will of Allah (swt), to accept right guidance. Sadly, in this present day and age, many freely choose to not do this. We each have a choice. Let us pray that we each make wise ones.

Ma'a salaam.

Hmmmm... Would kinda defeat the purpose of allowing man to discover......

Let's imagine for a moment that He did...... Man would find confusion in it for some odd reason.... whether it would be the language, the content, or the clarity of what he has seen.....

There would still inevitably be a problem. Man cannot imagine his life without a problem in it...... so even the clearest point of view would be difficult to understand......

Man cannot, in this life, comprehend God, even in His clearest point of view.

Probably because he doesnt actually exist.

The bible is just a bronze age fiction with no relevance whatsoever to life in the 21st century.
