I do not understand your issue. If you want to stop eating meat than do so, otherwise don't. What ever you decide it is a personal choice that only you can make for yourself. You need to weigh the pros and cons of each way of eating and decide which one works for you. What is right for one person is not always right for another.

Hi James, I watched a programme about meat production from rearing, killing, until it ended up in a plastic container and I swore I wouldn't eat meat again. Deep down I believe that if I was really starving I would eat anything as would most people. Vegetarians I know work hard at it, but even carrots squeak when killed ( that is actually been tested and its true). I consider anything growing to be alive, therefore, you must kill it to eat and cook it. I have tasted some lovely well thought out and delicious veggie meals and would love to have the time and energy to do it, but I am a hypocrite and would get so fussy checking ingredients for traces of animal fat that I would obsess. I also take account of all the starving people in the world and consider myself blessed that I have the choice and still stay healthy. So good luck in your quest - try it now and then. However, I have noticed ALL my veggie friends and also my son's family eat biscuits, snacks and rubbish takeaways without knowing whats in them. There is saturated fat everywhere in everything, but they don't seem to acknowledge this fact. Where I live lard is still used to fry the chips. Oh, and you better stop eating out as you can't control that either. Luv Camilla, an reluctant animal eater. Fish also feel pain and put up a damn good fight when hooked.
Think seriously about it ......................... and then think of the perfect bacon butty?

Sorry, I'm not going to stop you! Give it a try and see how you feel. Find some good vegetarian recipes and keep an open mind! www.allrecipes.com has a great vegetarian section and all the recipes are rated by the users and they add comments so you can find what is easy to make. Two good recipe books are Good Nutrition for Life and Vegetarian for Life (both by Darlene Blaney). Don't be afraid! Many people are transitioning to vegetarianism for health reasons. Best of luck.

Listen, giving up meat doesn't have to be a 'for the rest of my life' commitment.... just do it one day at a time. Do the best you can, and don't worry if you fall off the veggie wagon occasionally. Sounds like you're on the right track to a healthier and more moral lifestyle.
That, by the way, is what drives meat eaters crazy - they *know* it's inhumane and bad for them, but they *like* meat, so they turn a blind eye and try to make themselves feel better by bashing vegetarians. Good luck!

Dont do it mate. As we are constantly told. Yes you can 'survive' without eating meat. But life isnt about merely surviving, its about living. Think of all the delicious meals you will be depriving yourself of if you go vegetarian. I have tried many vegetarian meals and always felt that they were bland, uninteresting affairs that always left me thinking that they had something missing.
Vegetarians will claim that they are healthier and if you eat meat you will get cancer. Tell that to Linda McCartney. Lifelong vegetarian and she croaked of cancer.
Tell it also to the veterans that were marching through London yesterday. All fine healthy old men that have fought a war and won, and are still fit to march 62 years later. You dont think they got there eating tofu and lentils do you? No, these are the meat and two veg generation.
Eating meat is natural, its good for you (if you do it right. Living on burgers and steak alone is not a good idea) and you will find that people who eat meat are a damn sight more relaxed and happy within themselves than those who shun meat and then spend their lives trying to replace it with meat substitutes. Dont do it mate, it aint natural

If you give up meat you will indeed be healthier. Not to mention the 100,000's of animals you will be saving each year by not eating meat. Meat also contains many pesticides and they aren't good for your body. Most people who have gone vegetarian have noticed a defference in their appearance by losing weight or just by having their eyes get more brighter. Not to mention the amount of energy you gain. There are many choices that you can have besides meat, like eggs, cheese, and veat. garden burgers are yummy!!

If you really want to give meat up then try it for a while and see how you get on without it. If you miss it so much then just go back to eating it!

Meat is gross. The process that it goes through from birth to supermarket is just sickening. Plus, it's unhealthy for you. Meat, in limited quantities, was healthy for you in the old days when animals were wild. Now they're mass produced in factory farms. It's just horrible.
I gave up meat and now, even if I tried, I could not go back to a meat eating diet. If you do it right, you'll get use to it after the second week, I promise that.
