Vegans do not eat, use or wear anything of animal origin. This means no meat, slaughter byproducts, dairy products, eggs, or honey. As a vegetarian you're probably already checking ingredient lists for gelatin and hidden beef or chicken stock. As a vegan, you'll also want to look for whey and casein (milk components) which are incorporated into lots of foods. Carmine or cochineal (a red food coloring made from crushed beetles) is another one that shows up fairly often, especially in candy and makeup. There's actually a book you can get along the lines of "Animal Ingredients A-Z" if you want to make sure you aren't getting anything in your food that you don't want there.

I'm not a vegan but i'm a Buddhist. In our religion, we believe that we should not harm or kill any alive souls. Therefore, vegans don't eat any products come from animal: such as meat, fish, eggs, cheese, milk, GARLIC and Spring Onion. The main protein source for vegan is from Tofu.

My aunty was a vegan, she ate only rice, tofu, soy sauce, black bean sauce and vege. She didn't eat any kind of cakes or biscuits because they contain eggs.

The vegans that I know eat nothing that comes from an animal, including milk and eggs. They also eat nothing that is cooked in anything that comes from an animal ... so nothing cooked in animal fat, or cooked in the same oil as any meat, etc. One guy that I know won't even eat something like a cinnamon roll because it has fat in it that I guess is an animal product. They drink soy milk, including in their coffee, etc.

I'm not vegan or veg, so I'm only going by what I see from those around me that are!

Vegans don't eat meat, milk, eggs, anything containing them, or other animal ingredients, like casein, gelatin, and whey.

Veganism is a lifestyle, not just what you eat. Vegans don’t wear leather, fur, or wool, buy products from companies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests:

Or frequent zoos, rodeos, circuses, or other places where animals are held in captivity or forced to perform.

Well I'm a vegan and the main difference is that we don't consume anything that had a "mother". I know some vegaterians that drink milk, eat fish and consume dairy products. Vegans basically don't consume anything that ever came from a living animal.

Vegans avoid products which result from animal exploitation. So, no meat, dairy, eggs, honey and other bee products, carmine (crushed cochineal beetles), shellac, etc. We do no wear silk, wool, leather, or fur. We avoid animal ingredients in our cosmetics and cleansing products, and we avoid items tested on animals (except for maybe prescribed medicines).

Garlic and onions, by the way, are suitable for vegans, but some religious gropus avoid them because they are said to aggravate certain undesirable emotions. I say bring them on!
