Suppose we create artificial intelligence which ends up being able to out-think us on every level, could this be an indication that something less intelligent than us created us?

No one is giving me a good response. Some of you are attacking me or my question, others are ignoring my question and answering another question that was not posed.

The question is simple, "Can a less intelligent sentient being create a more intelligent being?"

Yes, it's possible. But only if it didn't mean to create us specifically.

We were created by non sentient forces, so yes, intelligence can arise from unintelligence. ...and let's hope that happens before the 2008 election!

Not likely. The most likely scenario is that natural processes "created" us, selecting for advantageous mutations. A hard concept for us humans to grasp sometimes, but that does not make it false.

Let me ask you, Can God create something so heavy that he can not lift it? God can not contradict Himself. He is all inclusive, and has no need for anything. You could rephrase your question to say, Could something more imperfect that us have created the imperfect? I guess not, Perfection is where it is at; we imperfects seek to perfect ourselves.

How about a giant explosion? Explosions don't usually show many signs of intelligence...
