Her name is Oreo. She used to be the most energetic and playful kitten She would get excited over her catnip toy and a shoe lace. She would eat like crazy when she was hungry then groomed herself. Lately she has been cold and always sleeps We keep her warm but we think the problem was her flea collar. Ever since we put it on she stopped running around and ate little. The collar is off now and she's doing better but still looks sad. I know she had diarrhea but now she does very little in her litter box. I keep giving her to eat but she just smells it. Do you think she needs someone to play with? She used to play with my younger brother's cat Simba and once in a while her sister Domino comes over...Please help! Thanks!

Thanks for all your help! All your answers were great. The flea collar is off and she got a bath and now Oreo is back to her normal self, biting and eating a lot again.

Flea collars in general are no good...and flea treatment in a kitten so young should be prescribed by a vet. There is a possibility that the collar may have poisoned the kitten since it is so young....
I would make a call to the vet and explain the symptoms..kittens that don't eat and aren't energetic -- definately there is something wrong...
When old enough...she should only be treated with Advantage or Frontline, only once a month, as they kill the whole flea life cycle and ticks as well..

I don't think your cat needs someone to play with -- I think she needs to go to the vet. A kitten can become dehydrated very easily from even a little diarrhea because she's so small, and only a vet can tell what's wrong with her. Also, fleas carry diseases and can overwhelm a small animal. Flea collars are not a safe way to get rid of fleas, but your vet can give you a kitten-sized dose of a reliable product like Frontline or Revolution.
I hope it's something simple and your kitty is back to her playful self right away! Good luck!

I'm glad the flea collar is off. They often cause problems - and they never get rid of fleas!
Take your cat to the vet if she does not continue to get better. Do not use flea collars on any animals. If you need flea treatment, get proper stuff from a vet like Frontline.

Best bring her into the vet. Flea collars can cause all sorts of problems. She might well need a playmate, but to me this sounds like there's something physically wrong with her. Especially as you said she does little in her litter box. Best of luck, kittens can be great fun (as well as gorgeous...what beautiful kitties they are!)

Was the flea collars for kittens? You need to be careful with that stuff and kittens.
I would take her to the vet to make sure she is ok. Have you taken her for her shots yet?
If she is on the mend, it might take a little bit for her to get there but I still would take her just to be sure.
If you play with her, she'll be fine. My kittens always went crazy for the laser pointer and the fishing pole toys..and lots and lots of mousies.

Take her to the vet flee collars are very bad and may hurt the kitten take her to the vet as soon as possible she may have got poisoned don't give her flee collars unless a vet has proscribed it. Give your local vet a call or stop by first thing in the morning tomorrow.

I'd take her to the vet immediatly.
Fleas can cause enemia. I had a little 6 week old kitten who died because of flee bites. I did'nt know he was sick. I woke up one morning and he was laying on the floor cold. He soon died and I almost lost his brother too. It was enemia and the kitty I could save needed to be on a licorice tasting med to build up his blood. He would'nt eat ether so we tempted him with tuna fish juice. Finally he'd eat the tuna. Anyway, get her to the vet!!! She needs help!

I really hate to say it...
When my dog had cancer, he acted like yours does. He wouldn't eat. One day my cat caught a bird, killed it,and fed it to my dog. That was the only thning he ate.
The reason your cat isn't eating (if Oreo is sick) is because it hurts too much to eat normal food. Feed her meat and lots of water. If it doesn't work, then go see a vet or animal clinic.

try feeding her baby food meats. the tiny jars that are pure meat. chicken, lamb, veal, etc. when my cats are sick i feed them this food with a tiny baby spoon. they love the taste of the pureed meats and the extra attention when they don't feel well.
