So my birthday is coming up really soon (Dec. 3) so I need to start planning for my party. I was thinking of doing a theme maybe. I need some theme ideas and what to do at the party. Nothing expensive please. I was thinking like a Movie Night/Hollywood Party where me and some of my really close friends dress up all nice. I need some ideas.

Hello...Combine your ideas!!! Do a Hollywood Premiere!!! VIP Red Carpet Access. Everyone can come dressed up either in Red Carpet gear or as their favorite Celebrity. You could also base the theme around a certain movie and have people come as their favorite character from the movie.
Get popcorn, candy, drinks, pizza (stuff you can get at a movie theater). Make sure there's lots of pillows, blankets and seating. Watch a movie, or a series of movies and just laugh and have fun.

Make sure to make a red carpet themed photo area to get great pics of everyone. Use your name, the number 17, if it's a certain movie- use the title and make a great background.:

You could do a Winter Wonderland party. Decorations with this theme are all over the place now. The large fold-out tissue snowflakes are quite inexpensive. You could decorate around your food trays with white stuffing that you can by at any fabric store. Under the stuffing you could spread out a set of twinkle lights.
Your idea of a Hollywood theme is also a good idea. Party City has quite a few decorations you could use with this theme. Since you have a limited budget, you could just serve heavy hors d' oeuvers. Find an non alcoholic punch recipe and serve it in wine or champagne glasses. Serve some sort of elegant sweet, like chocolate dipped fruits. This site will give you some idea for games you can play.

A hollywood party sounds like fun! Roll out a red carpet down
the walkway to your home or wherever you're having it, serve
chocolate fondue and other finger foods. Sparkling apple cider for those under age and if your parents will be present, don't forget the "real" stuff for them. But even if you just do sodas, serve it in Champagne glasses for fun. Think of what you see on the Oscars TV coverage for ideas or search the net for "Behind the Bash" with Giada Delarenta (probably spelled wrong...)

For a Movie night, hopefully you have a big screen TV, with an awesome surround sound, then you can serve an Movice theater foods - hotdogs, popcorn with insane amounts of butter, slurpees, raisinettes, etc. And put on the latest DVD release of a movie that you enjoy.

Have fun and Have a great Birthday.

I think winter is the perfect time to have a Hawaiian luau!
Every party store will have endless decorations to match a Hawaiian theme. . To make the event even more festive hand out floral Lei's. Leis can be purchased from any party planning supply store in a variety of styles and colors.

Serve virgin daiquiri's (smoothies) with little umbrellas and pineapples in them.

Games to play at a Hawaiian style party include doing the limbo, a pineapple tossing contest and a hula contest. you have guests create their own lei's using fresh or silk flowers and string and let them go to town.

I think that your idea is great! But, the dressing up shouldn't be required unless your having a HUGE party.
