Try to keep your throat well lubricated. If it's not possible to have a drink (take a mouth full of water and let it trickle down the throat) then suck a boiled sweet.

Dear Friend,

Place a throat lozenge in your mouth, that way you're throat will remain moist and you will cough less. You can also, cover your mouth with one of those surgical masks that will allow you to cough, but will prevent germs from travelling through out the bus. Keep a bottle of hot water, with some honey and lemon mixed in and keep sipping that during your commute to work and back. Good Luck.

May be it is a dryness in your throat that causes this tickley feeling. Bring a bottle of water to sip on you journey or some throat lozenges to keep it moist. That should help. If failing that you should really tell your gp what you told us and see if there is anything he can do. Couging to that extent is painful on your chest with an infection and this constant coughing will agrrivate this.

I know how embarrassing it is to get a tickle in the throat and it always seems to happen when it's inconvenient.
Have a hot drink if you can but any throat or cough lozenge will help. I like to chew a fruit pastille and swallow before it melts. It seems that the sugar coating actually "scratches" that itch !! Sounds daft but it works for me.

I have found that when I get that tickly cough it is usually caused by mucous draining from my nose/sinuses, so if I blow my nose, it eventually relieves the tickle. Also, drinking something like orange juice or milk that coats the throat can also help.

I get the same problem - always keep a bottle of water or some boiled sweets with you, it helps ! And if you need to cough, then go for it.

You need to make sure you drink a lot of plain water.......... the usual recommended daily amount is 2 litres. When you have a cold, it needs to be more than that, to replace fluids lost (nasal fluid), so you should aim for 2-3 litres daily. Carry a small bottle of water with you, and have a drink when you feel a tickle in your throat
