Chronic right sided heart failure is known to cause liver problems. It is common in patients with right-sided heart failure with elevated right ventricular pressure that is transmitted back into the portal vein. Causing liver dysfunction due to passive hepatic congestion.
Some symptoms may include jaundice, problems in liver metabolism, and coagulation. Toxic levels of medication can occur as a result of the livers impaired metabolic functions making the problem worse.
But in simple terms the heart fails to pump blood at a rate commensurate with the requirements of the metabolizing tissues.

The liver lies just below the stomach in the lower abdomen. The liver is the center for the storage of vitamins and nutrients which were disolves and digested in the intestines. The nutrients are carried to the liver by two large veins. Blood passes through the liver at a rate of about 1.4 liters per minute. At any given time the liver cintains about 10% of all the blood in your body. The liver is divided into two main parts called lobes. The liver is protected by the bottom part of the ribs on the right side of your chest and the liver weighs between 3 and 4 pounds. Some people can get sick with a disease called Hepatitis. Hepatitis is an inflamation or swelling of the liver that can make you very sick. One kind of hepatitis is spread by people who have the disease spreading it to other people by cooking or serving food. The best way to avoid Hepatitis is to be sure you wash your hands after you go to the bathroom. Hepatitis can be cured, but you can get very sick. The liver also works to make bile. Bile is used to break down fats in the small intestine. The bile is stored in the gall bladder until it is needed to help digest the food you eat. If you eat a real fatty food like a hamburger and french fries your body will need more bile to help digest those fats than it would need in comparrison to a salad or some fruit. Some other diseases that can affect the liver are diabetes, cirrhosis and cancer.

Without the liver there is no life! Your liver produces many substances and maintains the balance of many nutrients. Our body makes many waste products which can be excreted only by the liver.
The liver plays a central role in the detoxification of drugs. Drugs are being taken up by the liver, degraded and excreted. The liver acts as a filter and prevents the passage of bacteria from the gut into the blood. The liver is also an important player in our defense mechanisms.
Since the liver can be affected by many things other than alcohol, it is totally conceivable that you can have problems with your liver. Heredity, drugs, viruses, stds, etc. can all damage the liver.
This little poem says it all and was written by Pablo Neruda:
Ode to the Liver
There, inside, you filter and apportion
you separate and divide,
you multiply and lubricate
you raise and gather
the threads and the grams of life...
from you I hope for justice:
I love life: Do not betray me! Work on!
Do not arrest my song.

It is the pancreas that turns food into energy - produces insulin and helps the body use glucose.
The liver detoxifies, produces cholesterol, and also produces albumin a vital protein, as well as the coagulation factors.
The liver is affected by blood flow. It can also be negatively affected by medications because it is also the liver's job to detoxify your body.

It basically is the only organ that makes energy and survival out of food.
You have just one, and if you lose it, it is fatal.
