It´s just a pre game party held at the parking lot (yes,.. the parking lot), like a bbq or a picnic...
Some people (some who can´t get tickets to the game) just have the tailgate party and see the game on tv in the same parking lot..

A tailgate party usually takes place before a sporting event such as a football game. Most people just drink and eat some food and mingle until the game starts. You could hold it at a tent or in the back of your car. They're really fun to go to if you are a sports fanatic.

Called tailgate because tailgate of pickup is used as a table for a grill. It's a combination bbq & picnic. People eat & socialize. Usually beer is served w/ hot dogs, burgers, chips, etc.

You buy a keg of beer and put it in the back of your truck. Then you go to some event. You put down the tailgate and start handing out the beer. You get wasted and make out with everything in sight. You pass out and wake up the next morning laying on the ground under a pile of sweaty bodies. Don't forget the details that go with getting drunk as a skunk, which I will not go into right now.

it can be as small as sharing drinks from an ice chest to setting up a barbecue pit and watching the game on wide screen tv that is hooked up via batteries and satellite dish.

Grillin' out of the back of a pick up truck (thats where the name tailgate comes from), lots of loud music, and plenty of beer!

A tail-gate party is a small or large party at ANY event. Whether it be a sporting or theater, any event that you attend can have one. We threw one at a music concert and one at a play. It's what you want to make of it. Just have fun and ask first if you can throw one on the property you are going on. You can have one at almost anything.

have had many need:secure 'cop-free' zone! car/truck,lots of beer, good loud music,decent non-violet people,every ones intention to catch a 'buzz' & enjoy each others company. try not to let the druggies in,will turn sour when/if they 'show-up'.
