I have a friend who used to eat fermented foods before he became very militant about his vegan diet. He claims that their are tiny animals in his pickle jar?

How can I convince him it is okay to eat fermented foods?

I did tell him it is wrong to eat meat though an he knows that and we both agree on that. However, we don't agree on the fermented foods. Please help with some advice because he was judging me for eating pickles and that is not right. Eating pickles is okay.

The mighty moral Ashley is being judged by someone else. Why don't you tell him the cold hard truth and don't sugar coat it. Don't forget to juice your pickles.

Any healthy person's body naturally kills millions of organisms akin to those in fermented foods daily. Some of the organisms in them, such as in live yoghurt, are not killed by being eaten and thrive inside the body. Even non-fermented foods are covered in the same kind of living things which are killed when they are eaten. It is not possible to live a completely non-violent life because of this. Therefore the criterion might be that one should do the minimum injury that is compatible with one's survival, and avoiding fermented foods is not going to kill fewer organisms than eating them. On the other hand, in Yogic terms fermented foods are tamasic and should be avoided for this reason. Then again, living entirely off micro-organisms is probably the closest one could get to being 100% cruelty-free.

It's interesting to ask if people suffered from food allergies in Biblical times. I've never heard about it anywhere. As to John the Baptist's choice of food, it was a faith decision, as was Samson's. Samson too didn't drink wine or beer and ate wild honey. If you try rice based foods it may help. Rice noodles, rice crackers and rice cakes don't react in the body as wheat based foods do. It will help to stop any craving you might have for bread. All the best.

He sounds like he is even more mental than you are. Tiny animals in his pickle jar? What is he pickling? And how long have they had internet access in your secure unit / hospital?
If vegans are pacifists. How is it possible to be a militant vegan?

Step 1: Explain to him what Vitamin K is, and how he'd be dead if those "tiny animals" in his intestines weren't making it for him every day.

Step 2: Tell him in the last 15 minutes, his immune system just killed thousands upon thousands of those "tiny animals." Some were trying to kill him, but others were just looking for a place to stay...

Pickles are not fermented they are preserved in a brine solution of salt, vinegar and water.

The only thing in pickles is produce. No critters allowed!

Garlic Clove
Salt
One hot pepper
Dill weed
picking cucumbers...

That's all.

Coyote: The only one that ALWAYS uses the word "moral" is Ashley. She's a troll... mocking a vegan which she's already admitted that she is truly not. Unfortunately not everyone is aware of her!

Hmmm, maybe morals are subjective and not universal? How old are you? 12? Because that's how immature you seem with your stupid vegan morals.
