Pizza isn't even Italian. It was invented in New York. The most popular real Italian dish would be spaghetti and meatballs.

Pizza was invented in southern Italy, but some American take the name of this dish and invented a salty cake who renamed pizza.
Seriuosly, I've heard that Americans blamed Bill De Blasio because he eats pizza with fork...in Italy pizza is eaten with fork!
And pizza isn't the most popular dish in Italy, but tons of Italians eat it once a week.
To the countrary spaghetti and meatballs isn't even an Italian dish, how could it be the most popular Italian dish...

No, not really. In Italy the American pizza is not pizza they way they make it. To call pizza Italian is to call the hamburger German. Sure, it originated there but in its current incarnation it's American.

Spaghetti, then, is probably the most popular Italian dish.

I say spaghetti is the most popular, they do have pizzas in Naples but it was made out of bread. To correct person that stated something about Eva Langoria, she's Mexican not Italian lol.

My goodness, yes! I was surprised to learn that pizza in Italy is like a 3 inch square cake with a sprinkle of assorted cheese. We Americans are so invented and created our own pizza.
