You can just get some oil and put a light thin layer on a heated pan and then cube the block of tofu then put it into the pan and brown it a little bit and you could add some curry powder or the puree used for beef and brocolli. Tofu can be prepared in just about any way, as ice cream, or in a lasagna or however you like it they even have tofu festivals in some places.

The first recipe I linked has a step by step for frying tofu. You can choose to add in the Chinese style sauce or not. Warm fried tofu is one of the most delicious foods ever!
I love tofu in veggie stirfry and it makes a great "meat"loaf, also tofu scramble and tofu bacon are great for breakfast. Tofu lasagnas are especially delicious! I'll link a couple of recipes that I have personally made a bunch of times with good results.
Vegweb.com is a great resource and there are lots of tofu recipes and tofu lovers on there.

Some of the ways I have tried are:
1. tofu, olives, and feta cheese pasta
2. Mashed and mix with some fillers and then refried
3. Salt and pepper tofu
4. Stuff firm tofu with shirmp meat (in paste form) and then deep fry or bake it with your favorite sauce.
5. cold tofu with ginger oil, fried ginger and oyster sauce
6. tofu stew
7. fire grill tofu and squid salad with fresh shredded cucumber and hoisin sauce with a little sesame.

Sure you can fry tofu. I usually saute mine in a frying pan, but I have had fried tofu before. You can grill it, bake it, marinate it before cooking, dredge in flour--the possibilities are pretty much endless.

I like to get extra firm tofu, slice it into small pieces, marinate it in salsa, and then bake it in the oven for a bit. Then you can use it as taco filling. Yummy!

My favourite way of frying tofu is:
1) Drain and cube firm tofu
2) roll in flour
3) roll in egg substitute or soymilk
4) roll in breadcrumbs (preferably japanese panko)
4) fry and serve with bulldog sauce (fruit+veg brown sauce)

yes you can fry tofu, some Asian soups have it in it. You can put it in soups, smoothies. fry it, or even put it in an omelette. Since it's bland, you can pretty much do anything you want to with it.
