She really needs to see a doctor to get tested and find out for sure what she has. I don't see why her having chlamydia would tear her family apart though. It's a completely curable STD, it's not like HIV/AIDS! If she is concerned about her parents finding out, she can always go to a STD clinic or a Planned Parenthood where they will kept her results confidential.

Cephalexin is often used to treat ear infections, tonsilitis, skin infections, and urinary tract infections.

Chlamydia is usually treated with one of the following antibiotics:
Zithromax (azithromycin)
Amoxil (amoxicillin)
Doryx (doxycycline)
Erythrocin (erythromycin)
E.E.S. (erythromycin ethylsuccinate)
Floxin (ofloxacin)
Levaquin (levofloxacin)

Take care!

She needs to get tested. That is the ONLY way to know if she has chlamydia. Most people who have it don't have any symptoms.

Chlamydia is indeed a bacterial infection and the preferred treatment is Zithromax, or doxycycline.

Note that all antibiotics do not work the same way for infections. And you shouldn't be giving her any kind of medicine.

heay there. I had a quick look online and it seems cephalexin is no good to cure chlamydia. If your friend does not want to go and get tested then you can buy antibiotics online- inhousepharmacy.com or other similar sites.Azithromycin (Zithromax) or doxycycline (Vibramycin) is the recommended treatment. single 1-g dose of azithromycin orally, or doxycycline at a dosage of 100 mg orally twice per day for seven days.

What Does Cephalexin Treat

Tell your friend to go to the doctor. Why does she think she has chlamydia and not trichomonis or even a yeast infection? My ex gave me Chlamydia when I was younger and put me in the hospital for 9 days of quadruple antibiotics. I ended up being sterile. I already had 3 boys so I was lucky in that part of already having kids. Chlamydia is extremely painful in that when I had it I felt like someone was literally crushing my internal organs. Tell her to go to the doctor. There are patient/doctor privacy laws.

Your friend can go to planned parenthood and be tested for Chlamydia and treated and her parents do not have to know.
The treatment is usually Doxycycline 2 times a day for 7 days or sometimes the treatment is different depending on if your friend has a resistant strain. I am not 100% sure, but I think the doxycycline is on the $4 list at Walmart and may be free now at Schnucks.
Dont give her your Keflex. It will not work.
If she is sexually active, she may have some other STD and its important that she refrain from intercourse until she is tested and treated. Then she needs to refrain from sexual intercourse from the person who gave her the infection.

Cephalexin Used To Treat

I would never ever purchase a antibiotic or any drug online. You never know what you're actually getting. That's very scary. And stupid.

no, chlamydia is a fungal infection and will not respond to antibiotics, in fact the cephalexin could make her problem worse. She must see a doctor to get the proper treatment, as for her family, the doctor cannot tell them without her written consent, so that is not a worry.
