I think you have to be on insulin or tablets to get free prescriptions.. People controlling sugar levels by diet don't.
You get eyetests free, both ordinary eyesight tests and the special diabetic screening ones. But you have to pay for glasses the same as anyone else.

The response from steffi is absolutely correct. You must be receiving prescription treatment for your diabetes to be able to get prescriptions free of charge ... this includes prescriptions for anything medical, be it diabetes related or not.
Seeing as steffi mentioned eye tests, I will just say that it is important for you to have your eyes checked periodically for diabetic complications. I hadn't noticed any deterioration in my vision when I was diagnosed with retinopathy (over 20 years ago now), and I've subsequently received many courses of laser treatment to prevent visual deterioration.

hello.no you dont have to pay providing you get a application form from your doctor in which he fills in for you as well as you to send away and with that you will get an excemption certificate come back from NHS which lasts for five years at a time as mine is due for renewal next year. hope it helps. take care.x

check with your local PTC if ur entitled to free prescriptions they will give u an exemption certificate, i know diabetics are exempt but not sure if its both types or just one of them.

At the moment no, they get ALL their prescriptions free, plus opticians fees for free
