Probably those with artificial sweeteners, such as Equal (aspartame) would do. Below is a site with listings for those.

You can have any candy you want. You just have to have it in moderation. As my doctor told me yesterday--when you have candy, be sure to have enough insulin to cover the carbs and sugar in the candy. Sugar in candy and pretty much everything else is now treated as carbs in diabetics. So, we can have anything that anyone else can have. We just have to have it in moderation and check our blood sugars often. Sugar free candy is basically a waste of your money. First it has a laxative effect. Second it is really expensive. Third it doesn't taste nearly as good as the real thing. As I have been told over and over by doctors and dieticians the past few years--you might as well have the real thing, just in moderation and check the blood sugars often and have enough insulin to cover it.

If you are having a low blood sugar, though, candy will take longer to raise the blood sugar levels because of the fact that it is more carbs than sugar. So, the best is liquid sugar, such as orange juice that is sweetened, a sugar pop, another drink with sugar put into it (such as tea). When I have lows, I use the small cans of coke or pepsi and then eat something with carbs and meat to keep the blood sugar stabilized (such as graham crackers and peanut butter or a peanut butter sandwich since peanut butter lasts in the system longer).

There are absolutely no bans of any sort of food or goodie!! BUT!!!

Be very sensible about how much of it you really want to eat. Work it into your food plan. Do not ignore good healthy foods just to have some candy.

I usually have a small bit of chocolate (the real stuff) every day.

Chocolate has a lot of fat in it so it doesn't absorb as fast as say a hard candy that doesn't have any fat, like peppermint sticks.

Just remember to count the carbs and fats and work it into your food plan without giving up any good green leafy stuff!!!

Sugar free candy, or candy with very very low sugar content. If you are diabetic and you are having an insulin reaction I have found that powdered donuts work pretty fast

sugar free - but watch our some can cause diarhhea in excess

and once a week cheat - and have one (not BAG) piece

better to look for lower glycemic level foods because
a carb is a carb is a carb IS A LIE

some low carbs with the same calories are better than rice/bread/etc which take you up fast - and bring you back down fast (crash!)

lentils and beans are good

all the best

Dark chocolate (with 70% cocoa and up) is OK: it's almost pure chocolate and not the sugary stuff of other bars
