You can test for Chlamydia and gonorrhea using a "dirty" urine sample. The alternative is to swab the urethra (males) or cervix (often done in tandem with a Pap smear). Testing comparisons found that urine testing and swabs were comparably effective. But for many people, urine is preferable because it's not so invasive.

This test is technically NOT urinalysis. It is a PCR amplification that looks for DNA fragments from Chlamydia trachomatis (causes chlamydia) and Neisseria gonorrheae (causes gonorrhea). If the DNA is present in the urine sample, then it's a positive test.

We test for Chlamydia and gonorrhea at our public health clinics.

none a urinalysis isnt designed to test for STDs. a urinalysis tests for things like color, clarity, ph, etc... this test is used to detect kidney and metabolic disorders. it can detect bacteria in the urine but 99.99 percent of the time the bacteria is from a UTI or bladder infection.
