If I had choices where I live I would choose the mom and pop chinese restaurants. All the chain restaurants like Panda express and PF Changs are all mass produced or at least seem mass produced. PF Changs is good, but if I had a choice, I would always choose the mom and pop places. No matter if it was Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Indian.

Not necessarily "dives" but definitely small mom & pop restaurants over large standard tasteless Americanized chains.

While PF Changs are very good, I prefer the mom and pops when I can find them. More authentic and just better.

I like the mom and pop places for the authenticity and the price.
PF Changs is just an expensive imitiation of the real thing.

Well here where I am there is one really good one a mom and pop that makes the best orange chicken ever! So fresh and with real orange pieces! Now I'm hungry! Guess what I am having for dinner?

Most chains don't serve authentic chinese food, it's greatly westernized, so I prefer the places where Asians eat. The real thing isn't half as fattening either.

Mom & Pop shops all the way!
Of course that is always my choice over chains anyday for anything!

Mom and pops - primarily because most of them have a traditional family recipe which is good .
