I am having this procedure done today at the request of my gyno (long list of issues). I have a follow up with her next Friday to go over if my meds are working. She has scheduled a Cardiologist appointment for me on Nov 27th. So will she get the results before the cardiologist does since she requested the echo?

Well, I work for a cardiology group, and when a patient is referred to us and an echocardiogram has already been ordered and completed, the ordering physician gets the first copy. Most of the time, we do the echos in our office and the patient gets his/her results right then. I would highly recommend asking for a copy of your echo report (if it's been read by the doctor) to take with you. Otherwise, you might get stuck waiting while they call another office to retrieve it! If the echo is being completed by the cardiology office that you are being referred to, then they should have a copy already. Hope this helps!

I work for a lot of cardiologists in the same office and most of the time other DR's request the patient to come to our office or even the hospital for the echocardiogram. It is the cardiologist who read the test and write the reports. They THEN go to the DR who ordered it. A gyno may have ordered it but they won't DICTATE a report. That is up to the SPECIALIST to do... Probably what will happen is that your gyno will get the report but will have you get the results from the cardiologist when you go see them..... Good luck!

No the cardiologist and the GYN will both get it at the same time but the cardiologist will add his findings and send those to her as to what he sees or recommends.

It depends which doctor has referred you for echocardiogram, e.g. your internist, he will get it first, and than he can take opinion of cardiologist.
To be short your referring doctor.
