You can't contract AIDS - period.

People don't contract AIDS - they contract HIV, which in most cases usually develops into AIDS.

People can contract HIV through 3 main transmission routes. They include:

1. Sexual route. Sexual transmission can occur when infected sexual secretions of one partner come into contact with the genital, oral, or rectal mucous membranes of another.

2. Blood or blood product route. This transmission route can account for infections in intravenous drug users, hemophiliacs and recipients of blood transfusions (though most transfusions are checked for HIV in the developed world) and blood products.

3. Mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). The transmission of the virus from the mother to the child can occur in utero during the last weeks of pregnancy and at childbirth.

If you aren't having sex with your friend then you really have nothing to worry about. Casual, everyday contact like shaking hands, hugging, etc, will NOT spread HIV.

Take care!

listen to me your friend needs to get check and you need to be her friend and be there. The only way you will get aids is by having sex and sharing needles. and if she has aids she needs to take care of her self so you will not get by being her friend so stop worrying and take her to the Doctor and be a friend. That's what she is going to need.

What makes you think your friend has AIDS?

You might encourage her to go to a gynecologist and get a physical.

have your friend go to the health department and get a test. it's free. it's not like the flu. you can't just tell. and if they do, and you're a true friend, you won't care. and again, it's not like the flu, you can't just catch it if they cough on you. stop being so ignorant.

u shouldn't make them feel alienated or ostracize them for having aids. support them and be there for them like you normally would. please look it up if u want the right info on aids.
